If you are new to Facebook ads, you may have heard the term season your pixel🧂

What does that even mean?

A pixel is code that is added to the backend of a website and collects data as conversion events are triggered. If you’ve got a brand new website or you have just added the pixel to your website, it won’t have any or much data.

What seasoning your pixel means is that the pixel has enough data for whatever event action or conversion event that you want to track for or optimise for before you optimise for it.

If you launch a campaign with a brand new unseasoned pixel, what can happen is that your cost per events can be a lot more expensive or your ad will stay in limited learning as it doesn’t have enough data to work with (for Facebook to know what to optimise for).
