Rejection is a painful #experience. After all, it feels like the world is saying that you’re not good enough. Yet #rejection also happens to everybody at some point in their livesβfrom #jobseekers to #artists to would-be spouses and more. In fact, rejection is so universal that #psychologists have made it the subject of extensive research on how people respond when they’re turned down.

It’s important to give yourself time to accept the rejection. You’ll probably be upset or angry at first, but over time, you’ll be able to see that it was for the best. Once you’ve calmed down and your #emotions have cooled off, it’s important for you to look back and think about what happened. Were there any positives? Did this rejection teach you something new? Think about what happened objectively instead of just seeing everything as negative.

β’ Don’t take it personally.
β’ Don’t think about what you could have done differently.
β’ Don’t dwell on the negative.
β’ Don’t try to over-compensate.
β’ Don’t compare yourself to others, even if they’re doing better than you are at the moment (or in your opinion).
β’ Donβt dwell on the past or future either; stay focused on today for maximum #productivity and #happiness!

You are not alone, and you should never try to deal with rejection on your own. If you feel that a friend or family member could be supportive, reach out to them. Donβt bottle up your feelings; release them by talking about them. Donβt think that asking for assistance is a #weaknessβit is actually quite the opposite!
